The most delicious, Child -friendly, heart warming, easy recipe... and if you want to show off they look REALLY impressive piled up on a plate on the coffee table
(just hope that your guests don't eat them all)

For the dough

  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 2tsp dried yeast

  • 6 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Melt butter in microwave and stir into the warmed milk along with the yeast. Then add the dry ingredients, mix and knead into a soft dough.
Split into 2, place in bowls and leave to rest in the fridge for 30 mins+

For the filling (judge amounts by hand)
  • Butter (slightly melted)
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar
Remove 1 portion of the dough from fridge and roll out into a large rectangle. (the other half can be saved for later, or the next day)
Spread with butter  then sprinkle on copius amounts of cinnamon and sugar.
Roll up the dough (like a swiss roll)
Slice into 1 cm thick slices and place on a baking tray.
Baste with a beaten egg and sprinkle with more sugar.
Bake at 225ÂșC for 8 – 10 mins (depending on level of brown-ness desired)

Best eaten while still warm, with a nice cup of tea, infront of a wood fire, under a blankie….

    1. Hi Lynda,
I use normal cheap plain flour, a 50:50 mix of wholemeal and plain would work just as well.

      Enjoy,
      Ann
